Term of Contract
1 year – renewable twice (for a total of 3 years)
Teaching Hours
Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter Quarters
Four 5-week quarters/year
5 teaching days/week between Monday and Saturday
90 minutes/lesson, 17 lessons/week, an average of 26 teaching hours/week
An estimated 20 minutes/lesson for inputting comments to students
Summer/Winter Intensives
A. Conversation Lessons
Two 2-week courses/year
5 teaching days/week between Monday and Saturday
90 minutes/lesson, 2 lessons/day, 15 teaching hours/week
An estimated 20 minutes/lesson for inputting comments to students
B. Writing Lessons
Two 2-week courses/year
5 teaching days/week between Monday and Saturday
180 minutes/lesson, 1 lesson/day, 15 teaching hours/week
An estimated 60 minutes/lesson for marking students’ written work
During the summer/winter semesters, tutors will teach two 2-week courses for a total of 4 weeks. Tutors may be required to teach conversation or writing lessons.
Payment
Base Pay: 261,000 yen/month (for 12 months)
Attendance Bonus: 50,000 yen paid twice a year if you are on time and present for all lessons, workshops and waiting periods.
Allowance: 2,000 yen per teaching day at Tokorozawa campus
Local Transport Expenses: Paid per trip, based on the most reasonable commuting route to the campus, up to 50,000 yen/month.
PLEASE NOTE
Under this contract, you are required to teach 5 days/week, between Monday and Saturday during 4 quarters and 2 semesters.
